چکیده

Multiple interactions exist between the immune, haematopoietic, endocrine and nervous systems (1,2). The bi-directional communication between the immune/haematopoietic and nervous systems is mediated by complex mechanisms involving multiple soluble factors (e.g. neuropeptides, neurotrophic factors, neurotransmitters and cytokines) produced by each system (3±5). Examples of such factors are: the neurotransmitter neuropeptide Y (6) produced by megakaryocytes (7), substance P, which enhances the proliferation of primitive bone marrow cells and progenitors (4), and nerve growth factor (NGF), which contributes to differentiation of human basophils (8) and stimulates the release of inflammatory mediators from these cells (9). The bone marrow is the major site of haematopoiesis in adults. All blood cells descend from pluripotent haematopoietic stem cells, which develop in lineagecommitted progenitors. These committed progenitors expand and differentiate towards functional end cells. Haematopoiesis is controlled by a complex cytokine network in combination with cellular signals provided by cell-to-cell contact with stromal elements within the bone marrow. A number of studies have demonstrated that somatostatin inhibits proliferation of lymphoid and haematopoietic cells (10). However, little is known of the effects of somatostatin on primary haematopoietic stem cells and progenitor cells. This brief overview will focus on recent insights into the expression and functional significance of somatostatin receptors (SST) in the haematopoietic system.

Somatostatin Decorated Quantum Dots Nanoparticles for Targeting of Somatostatin Receptors

Due to the unique optical properties like high brightness and narrow emission bands of Quantum dots, it is used as simple fluorescence materials in bio-imaging, immunoassays, microarrays, and other applications. To easy invistigate cell lines that overexpressed somtostatin receptors, somatostatin (SST) was conjugated with Quantum dots carrying PEG amine (Qdots-PEG-NH2). The conjugation of SST t...

Preparation, formulation and quality control of one step kit 99mTc- EDDA/HYNIC-Tyr3-Octreotide as a peptide radiopharmaceutical for imaging somatostatin receptor positive tumors [Persian]

The high expression of somatostatin receptors in many tumours, have made receptor scintigraphy with 111In-DTPA-Octreotide a widly used procedure in nuclear medicine. Despite its clinical success, some limitation and drawbacks of radiolabelling with 111In remain, especially those concerned with the cost, availability and physical decay properties of this radionuclide. 99mTc-EDDA/HYNIC-Tyr3...

Preclinical study of a new 177Lu-labeled somatostatin receptor antagonist in HT-29 human colorectal cancer cells

Objective(s): Somatostatin receptor-positive neuroendocrine tumors have been targeted using various peptide analogs radiolabeled with therapeutic radionuclides for years. The better biomedical properties of radioantagonists as higher tumor uptake make these radioligands more attractive than agonists for somatostatin receptor-targeted radionuclide therapy. In this study...

Developmental trends in targeted radionuclide therapy of neuroendocrine tumors

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) constitute a heterogeneous group of neoplasms including carcinoids, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, pituitary tumors, medullary thyroid carcinoma and phaeochromocytomas. The symptoms and the outcome of NETs differ considerably between patients depending on several factors. By labelling tracers with a radioisotope, the tracer acts as a ...
